Description
This auction is for an antique Charley Ross perfume bottle with mirror (detached from the bottle). If you are not familiar with the bottle, Charley Ross was one of the earliest known cases of child kidnapping for ransom. In an effort to keep his story in people’s minds his family created perfume bottles with his likeness on them, much like children on milk cartons. Look up his sad story. Some styles had his name and/or image embossed on the face of the bottle, I am assuming that this style had a paper label with his likeness on the reverse of where the mirror was attached. It is 3” tall by 1 3/4” across the round part. There is a very small flake on the face of the glass where the mirror was attached and there is discoloration on the mirror but otherwise it is in good condition. A great piece of history. Please message me with any questions and see my other auctions for more great bottles, I am happy to combine shipping.
